Bible Studies – Draw deeper into Living Word (Jesus) through the Written Word (Scripture).  These Bible Studies are taken from the personal study of NRJohnson.  Many are written summaries of sermons preached, others are merely musings of the Word, but all are focused on Jesus.

Biographies – Deeper Christian Lives are often unheard of today.  Yet such stories are testimonies to the glory, grandeur, and greatness of our King.  When you read a biography of a Christian who has journeyed the Narrow Way, experienced the Fullness of Jesus, exchanged their life for the “Secret,” and has deep-sweet intimacy with their Saviour – it brings encouragement and conviction to one’s own soul.

Blogs – a place for random musings, thoughts, quirks, quips, and other nonsense.  Think of “the blog” section as a mixture of articles, thoughts, quotes, and a location to file a post that doesn’t fit within another category.

Bookmark29 – Want to read a great book?  Want to read a great book that also draws you into the depth and fullness of Jesus?  Bookmark29 is a collection of reviews on deeper Christian life books.  What’s up with “29″?  Read Job 29 and you might get an idea – it is the essence of a Christian, a bravehearted soul, a man of God, a mighty-valiant believer, and the mark of a really good book.

deeperChristian Quotes – What is the deeper Christian life and what does such a life look like practically?  These stirring quotes will spur you deeper into Jesus, calling you to give everything up (ie: die to self), so He can live, source, and flow through your life unhindered.*

*There is now an official deeperChristian quotes website where you can sign up for daily quotes in your email.

News & Updates – A collection of updates, information, news, and the like.  This is the place where you would go to find out about upcoming conferences, the latest online magazine releases, and other recommendations and news.

The Deeper Christian Life

Simply put, the deeper Christian life is one of absolute surrender to, complete dependency upon, and abiding faith in Jesus. It is a life that is governed and sourced by Jesus Himself as I live in continual response to Him. Paul said: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Out of intimacy with Him and the flow of the indwelling Holy Spirit within, Jesus produces and becomes my victory and triumph in life; He is all that I need. As the great Keswick preacher Bishop Moule wrote:

[The Christian life is] to be like [Christ]. To displace self from the inner throne and to enthrone Him; to make not the slightest compromise with the smallest sin. We aim at nothing less than to walk with God all day long, to abide every hour in Christ, and He and His words in us, to love God with all the heart, and our neighbor as ourselves. . . . It is possible to cast every care on Him daily, and to be at peace amidst pressure, to see the will of God in everything, to put away all bitterness and clamor and evil speaking, daily and hourly. It is possible by unreserved resort to divine power under divine conditions to become strongest through and through at our weakest point. . . . It does not depend on wearisome struggle, but on God’s power to take the consecrated soul and to keep him. . . . Christ [is] our righteousness, upon Calvary, received by faith, is also Christ our holiness, in the heart that submits to Him and relies upon Him. . . . A message as old as the Apostles but too much forgotten: the open secret of inward victory for liberty in life and service through the trusted power of an indwelling Christ; Christ in us for our deliverance from sin, for our emancipation from the tyranny of self, for the conquest of temptation.

Bishop Moule in his Thoughts on Christian Sanctity, as quoted in The Keswick Story by John Charles Pollock (CLC Publications, 2006, pages 98-99)

NRJohnson

Besides being an epic soundtrack lover and a bonsai tree enthusiast, NRJohnson (Nathan Johnson) has an overwhelming passion for the Deeper Christian Life and loves to communicate the Message of Jesus through His Word.  He desires to see Godly Christianity revived once again in our world and spends much of his free time reading, writing, and mentoring young men in Biblical masculinity (and he does enjoy the occasional game of disc golf).  Nathan has a laugh that can be heard within a 2.68 mile radius and has a servant’s heart which loves to be spilled and spent for King and Kingdom.

Nathan lives near Nashville, Tennessee working with Cross Style Global Ministries and Cross Style Church where he preaches, teaches, writes, produces books and resources, and pastors the community. He is also the director of Cross Style’s School of Practical Ministry which plans to launch January 2012. Nathan is also a co-editor of the Cross Style Connection online magazine and is a part of Ellerslie Mission Society, a Colorado based ministry, whose purpose is to train and equip men and women for the heroic Christian life. Within the last year, Nathan has started to preach and teach in a variety of venues – camps, retreats, revivals, churches – and has started work on his first book.
