Reading Shelf

My eyes adjust as I enter the dimly lit room. I notice a group of chairs huddle in a circle, and the smell of coffee wafts from the table against the far wall. Several people are already seated, looking embarrassed and desiring an exit. I find my seat and wait for the leader to bring the room to order. A nod in my direction signals it’s my turn. I twist nervously on the seat, give a polite and embarrassed smile and softly confess:

“Hi. My name is NRJohnson and I’m a book fanatic . . . and perhaps that is an understatement.”

Okay, while I’m not at the point of needing a recovery group (yet) for my book addiction, my heart does resonate with the cry of Erasmus who declared: “When I get a little money, I buy books; and if any is left, I buy food and clothes.” I agree wholeheartedly with Luther who said: “There never yet have been, nor are there now, too many good books.” My “addiction” is not only with the countless books on my several bookcases, but I find a compulsion to read several books at the same time. Since I get asked “what are you reading” on a normal basis, I thought I would start posting the books I am currently in the middle of.

Note – several of these books I have been reading for a year or  more (reading a chapter ever now and then) and others I blaze through in a couple days. But here is the most up-to-date list of what I am currently reading.
