Army of God

Army

The trumpet blows forth from Zion and a great army advances across a blood splattered field with steel raised to heaven. A fearless, lion-like growl is deeply implanted within each warrior as they march onward toward the enemy of their souls. They are jealous for the glory of their King and are willing to spill and spend their blood to see His kingdom advance upon this earth. A man clothed in a gleaming white robe seated upon a great stallion sounds the battle cry and they hasten toward the enemy ready to conquer or die.

This is the army of the Lord: men and women who count their lives worth nothing that the Kingdom of God and of His Christ would be established upon this sin-ridden earth. They have a single eye for the glory of their Redeemer. Their bodies and their blood belong to their holy, righteous King for they have been purchased with His very blood. They are vigilant and ever ready and watchful never slumbering or sleeping. They are mightily strong with a heavenly strength that could only come from the great omnipotent God. They realize fully the awesome and terrible privilege it is to serve the King of kings and Lord of lords and so tremble not at the enemy but at the awful presence of their King. The cry of their hearts ever resounds, “Is not the lamb that was slain worthy to receive the reward of His sufferings?”

Oh, that God would raise up such a band of men and women in this generation. God is looking to and fro throughout the earth for such selfless radicals whose heads are pledged to heaven.  Will He find such men today?

The church of Jesus Christ today has been severely blinded to the epic war that ceaselessly wages for the souls of men. She has lost her fight. She has lost her warrior-like spirit. She has lost her jealousy for her God.  She is ransacked by the enemy on all sides and doesn’t even know it. She is as weak and frail as ever. And yet the war still wages on. And the Great God is seeking out a remnant of ruthless warriors. He is incessantly crying out, “How could you be so blind? Awake! Open your eyes!” And yet she slumbers as if to be dead as billions of souls perish and sink into the fire of hell without hope and without Christ.

Rise up, men of God! No more of this weak, sleepy, lukewarm, namby-pamby “Christianity” or should I say Christ-lessanity.  It is time to face this battle head on for the honor and glory of our King. Forget your comfortable, easy living. It’s time for war and this war will cost you all that you have and all that you are. But is He not worthy? Is He not worthy of the billions who have never heard the Good News and are going to hell? Is He not worthy of our bodies and our blood?

The heart-beat of every true Christian is, “He is worthy! He is worthy! He is worthy!” May He find such a heart-beat within each of us.

The Lord has been teaching me about being single-eyed and this blog post certainly served to spur me further on down that narrow way!
Mr. Thompson, God’s richest blessings upon your life as you are fully spent for Him and His.

As I read the brave and inspiring words from Nick I am reminded that all too often I look to the practical. I consider the ‘cost’. The blood, sweat and tears that are the promise of the Gospel scare me. This morning I am reminded that the blood was/is Christ’s, the sweat was/is the people who worked on my behalf so I could know TRUTH, and the tears are being spilled from the eyes of those who watch in frustration at people who care-less. Not more. I am reminded today dear men and women of God to spend myself in a more heroic manner. What is the cost of Glory? C.S. Lewis is correct; it is a burden or weight to heavy to carry alone. I need blood, sweat and tears to accomplish this task. Thank you for the reminder that others are going forth with God’s armor. From someone who is trying to wake up.
