We Hear You
One of the things I love about solid worship leaders/writers is how they can take a concept that is in the Word and bring it to life through song. Through my involvement in Cross Style and Ellerslie I have greatly benefited from this “Word in song” concept. At Ellerslie, Ben Zornes has written several outstanding tunes which enunciates the depth of the Word (watch for the upcoming album soon to be released). At Cross Style, Sean Patrick often takes the message of the sermons being preached and brings them to life (a Cross Style music CD is soon to be released as well). Here are the lyrics to one of the recent songs being song at the Cross Style Church, lyrics I have found myself humming to throughout the recent days. Read more
The Great Paradox
In today’s guest post, NJ Thompson discusses The Great Paradox. What is the great paradox you ask? It is profound yet incredibly disturbing – it has to do with that four letter word Christians are seemingly avoiding as of late. Perhaps this is one four letter word we need to reinstate into our vocabulary and allow it to jar us back into a reality of bended knees and weeping eyes. Read more
In the Worst of Characters
With marvelous audacity Christianity steps forward and claims to have the wherewithal to bring about change in the worst of characters. What, but the power of God, can flush the filth out of the heart of a sexual addict and leave innocence and purity in its wake? What else but the Indwelling Spirit can change a hopeless drunk or drug addict into a sober-minded man? Who else but God can transform a thief into man of virtue, a liar into a lover of truth, a mocker into a serious-minded man or an arrogant braggart into a meek lamb? Only God can work such human miracles – but He does do it! Read more
An Anchor in the Storm
“Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil” (Hebrews 6:19). Read more
A New Principle
We have begun to see how victorious Christian living is not a method or technique to be worked out in our strength – it is an entirely different and revolutionary principle of life. It is the principle of the exchanged life. When the Spirit circumcises our heart by cutting off our old flesh-life, we can say with Paul – “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” Read more
Is It Possible?
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction–and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life–and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14
Reader, let me ask you a very important question. I do so in love. It is a solemn and plain question–but do not be offended at its plainness. Receive it, consider it, and reflect upon it: “Do you believe it is possible, that you may go to Hell?” Read more
What Do I Still Lack?
What percentage of responsibility for my spiritual maturity is the Lord’s, and how much of it is mine? To say that I alone am responsible for my soul’s development is conceit. To say that all the responsibility is the Lord’s is impudence. Read more
